SWANS is a registered non profit making charitable organisation that provides educational, vocational and therapeutic services to physically and sensory impaired adults and their carers throughout Essex. Staffed by professionals with a background in Rehabilitation, Education, Mental and Physical Health and Special Needs Training, the purpose of SWANS is to improve quality of life and social inclusion.
We offer a wide range of services for disabled people with physical and sensory impairments. Our main purpose is to work to remove barriers which exclude you from full participation in your community and to promote independence. We are available to assess your needs, offer advice, training/education, provide counselling, social events and support where needed. If you have a disability yourself or are caring for someone who is disabled, then these pages will give you information and advice about the services and support that are available to you at SWANS.

Becoming a Service User can be done in many ways. You can self-refer or be referred by a Social Worker, Workstep, Job Centre Plus, a Health Professional or Voluntary Sector/Charity. An appointment will be made for you to attend for an Induction.
SWANS is situated in St. Cedd's House, alongside Maldon District Council, in Princes Road, Maldon. Other voluntary
organisations share the building.
The Centre is wheelchair accessible with ramped front entrance and full
disabled toilet facilities. We operate a strict no smoking policy on
the premises. Limited disabled parking is available at St Cedd's House.
